A canine cancer diagnosis affects more than a dog’s health. For the people who love them, it can bring fear, uncertainty, difficult decisions, and grief long before a loss occurs. While friends and family may be deeply caring and supportive, they may not fully understand the weight of what someone is experiencing.
Some of these feelings have a name. It’s called disenfranchised grief. This is grief that is real and deep, yet not always recognized or given the same understanding as other forms of grief. That can leave people feeling isolated at a time when they need support the most.
Paris’ Promise Foundation was created to help fill this gap. We offer a place where the emotional impact of canine cancer is acknowledged, the bond between a person and their dog is never minimized, and families feel seen, understood, and supported.
